I'm trying to see if a BFG 295/50 15 on a 10" wide wheel (5" backspace) will fit on the rear of my Charger. I have all the measurements I need and I think it will be ok, but I would just like to know what the exact width of this tire mounted on a 10" wide wheel is so I can be absolutely sure.

Thanks!

Unless the Charger and Coronet have different wheelhouse dimentions, I don't think it will fit. I installed 275 60 15s on my 66 Coronet with 5-1/4" Backspacing (special order) from wheel vintiques. I have 3/8" from case to spring on the inside and 3/8" from case to outer quarter. My rear wheels are 8".

I'm going to guess that tire will NOT fit under your Charger. a 275/60/15 will barely fit. and that's on an 8" rim. You don't have enough room for a 10" rim and a 12" tire back there. I've had 3 67's (2 coronets and 1 GTX) the biggest tire I ran was a 275/60/15 and that even scrubs a little from time to time. 68-up b-body no problem.

Before I ordered my Wheels and Nitto 555R 275 60 15 redlines, I tried on a set of M&H 275 60 15 on 7" steelies that my budy had. Here is a photo of how close they are.

295/650/15 dunlop G/T quailifiers on 10" wide centerlines wit 5" back spacing.

it helps to have a rear sway bar and stiff shocks to keep things in place around corners because it,s a tight fit.

Coronet of the same years outer wheel openings are NOT the same as the chargers

Yes, thanks. I'm sure they will fit if I get the backspacing correct. Both of these Chargers also have 295s on 10" wheels with 5" backspacing, so your info helps to confirm. I just wanted to get a width measurement of the BFG TA Radials because these are what I will be using and as you say, it will be tight and I want to cover all my bases. I know that the same size tire of different manufacture will vary slightly.
Do yours rub at all?

It's not the wheel lip, it's up higher in the 1/4 where that mid body line is.... go for it if you think it will fit.

Do yours rub at all?

No they didn,t rub at all.

I understand your concern though as sizes advertised as the same size can sometimes vary on different makes of tires .

Well I went out to cruise and just remembered this post. I'd say at the widest spot its 12 1/4-1/4 inches wide. Mine rubs occasionally around tight corners/ up hills turning, but I try to avoid that. Also added a really small spacer and that seemed to get rid of it a lot.

OT IMO, if there was a Hall of fame for tires, 295/50/15 would be voted in in the first round.

Reality check, that half the population is smarter then 50% of the people and it's a constantly contested fact.

I had N50 15's on a 10" rim don't remember the backspace on my 67 Charger.
I have 275/50/15's on a 10" rim with 6" backspace on my 71 Demon.

From BFG's web site the 295/50/15 measures 12.2" on 9.5" rim.

I don't know if that helps you, the 9.5" rim may be close enough to the 10" to get you your measurement.
