I have just converted my car to electronic ignition and I have wired everything up. It is a 5 pin system and I have got the new 4 post balast resistor on. Motor turns over but doesnt want to fire. Any tips on where the problem might lie?

Do you have voltage to the coil + with the key in the run postion and in the start position? Have you tried turning the key on and then jumping the starter relay to see if it would start. That bypasses the start position on the ignition switch. You need to tell us what you've done to diagnose the trouble.

you might hook a jumper wire to the coil neg & ground it & pull it away & see if the coil wire produces a spark(w key on). post how you wired it up.

Check that the ECU control box is WELL grounded, whereever you have it mounted. Remove the paint at the points where the attachment screws mount to the control box and the mounting surface, to ensure a good ground.

Also, you should check the air gap in the distributor, between the reluctor and the signal wheel. You must use a non-magnetic feeler gauge to check the air gap.
