might not understand what you are asking.
it depends on the year, since they were used for many years.

65 and 66 are the slip yoke type, but they are both 2 different types of 727.

earlier it is the ball and trunion.

maybe i dont get the ? either but..maybe this will help.

the trans does not care what 318 is bolted to it and would have the trans yoke for that yr chassis.

3 different output shafts on a 727 auto trans

1) ball and trunion
2) bolt on yoke-short shaft 727
3) slip yoke-long tail shaft 727..same slip yoke for 883-883OD 4-speeds.

yokes can have 3 u-joint sizes

7260 = 2 1/8"
7290 = 2 5/8"
1330 = 3 5/8"

they have conversion u-joints for these 3 mopar yokes as well.

SB 727 interchange on the polly318 and LA318

dont be confused by the polly being called a big block 318, it still has the SB bellhousing bolt spacing.

Hi guys...sorry for not being clearer. I have a 65 Poly engine and trans that I am putting into a 24' Dodge Hot Rod that I am building. The trans is a 727, but not sure if it is an "A" or "B". I currently do not have a drive shaft of Yoke. I tried a 904 one but the splines didn't line up.

Thanks for your help.

slip yoke for 727 is same as a 4-speed

904 is to small as you found out.

any 727/4-speed yoke will fit

I would see what size the rear axle yoke is and pick a 727 yoke to match the u-joint size on both ends of the shaft.

you can use 2 different size u-joints.but having the same size would be best. IMO

What year is the trans out of? The poly should have the early "small" converter pilot, and later (68/ later?) converters have a larger pilot. If so, the converter won't fit your engine.

All 727 converters have the large pilot hub, only the pre-'68 904 has the small hub.

A '65 poly would have been mated to a 727A with a slip yoke and a 7260 u-joint.

Heys guys...one more question, does the 65 318 poly (3-speed manual) trans have the same yoke as the 65 318 poly 727 automatic?

A '65 manual trans wouldn't have a slip yoke like the 727, the manual trans still had the B&T u-joint.
