carb isn't an issue. MSD had a boost delay/retard box you can add on. It lets you drop from .5* to 4* per lb of boost. The carb and the delay box are a much easier instal than a EFI set-up and WAY cheaper.
easier yes...but if you buy a setup forced induction carb, not that much cheaper than my setup once you figure in the ignition and tunability that comes built in the LS1 ignition/Efi.
I paid about $200 for my carb to be boost preped, $50 for my MSD delay box...

Which MSD box?
boost delay/retard box, mounts under the dash so you can drop timing out. Got it used off of e-bay. I already had MSD on the car.

I hear you...but you are not counting the cost of the carb you are modifing in your comparison. Also the cost of the carb hat (kinda expensive)....you wouldn't need one depending on what style throttle body you went with. Also what about the guy starting from scratch. I'm not saying this option is for everyone...it should at least be considered though.
I could efi a motor for $800-900....thats not that bad, and certainly cheaper than a 6-pak setup, etc. Also, that includes a fully adjustable and powerful ignition system. I'll bow out of this thread now....I didn't mean to take it off topic.

$50 for a used 750DP, $100 for the prform main body, Can't recall how much the floats and rebuild kit were... I bought the hat on special. It was a plastic unit that Superior was discontinuing I think it was $80. Like I said look around for bargins. You could EFI a motor for 8-900 but could Joe Hotrodder do it? And yes 6-packs aren't cheap. I could have spent less and boosted this engine, but it was already 11.2:1..... Next time.....

Joe Hotrodder with very little carb tuning experience will pull his hair out trying to tune the thing with a carb and blowtru until he figures it out, as me how I know...EFI especially GM or Megasquirt ecms have alot of support when you get to working with them and a factory style (GM) computer will come closer to keeping itself regulated while your trying to get it figured out, unlike a carb that will go lean and kill your motor without warning. Given I do have more of a background with fuel injection so I guess my opinion might be biased, but there are plenty of places to look for idiot proof step by step wiring diagrams and instructions for low buck EFI systems.
That being said, my car is blowthru carbed but If I had it to do over again I would have saved a few more bucks and went EFI from the start. My car will be EFI soon hopefully with drive by wire and all.

Mperry if your setting your carb up for gas you shouldn't have a problem.
I do have a few more pics of engine compartment but I can't post them it says there to large
Yes how I routed the pipe was verry simple Making the Y was the hardest, my first attempt looked better but the pipe split so the one on the car don't look as nice but works LOL
Flowmaster makes a Y-pipe that's 2x2.5's into a 3" They might even make it into a 3.5. It's not that expensive.

YES THIS IS AWESOME. I always hated turbo/supercharged cars, but once you own one and start driving it you will realize BOOST IS COOL. On top of the fact that this turbo is so cheap, you're doing it with a lowly stock 383. I wonder how it would respond to a bigger cam. I know the 4 cylinder turbo cams usually utilize a wide LSA and less duration on the exhaust lobe. Anyone know how the size of this turbo compares to other, more better known sizes? Oh and is it a 2 or 4 barrel 383?
Now I need to pin those needles, got to feel that heat Hear my motor screamin while I'm tearin up the street

I plan on freshening the 383 up one of these days but for now I'm just having fun with it It is a 4bbl engine If I end up going threw it ill look into a more boost type grind Once you have seat of the pants feel of what the car did NA and what its capable with boost you will never go back !!!!!!
