What are you guy's using for ring end gap with these parts. This is being used in a street brawler. 440 Source 500 inch 440 stroker with the 5095 .055 over piston and their supplied ring CR9190-130 that are from Total Seal.

I see on Total Seals web site, they call for more ring end gap on the second ring. The paper work that came with the pistons figures out to have the top ring at .020 and the second ring at .016.

Who's correct??

Thanks
Dan

The paper work that came with the rings is OLD(20+
years)... the top ring is right with the spec they
call out for .004+ per inch of bore but the second
ring MOST are making that larger than the first by
.005(as in if the top is .022 make the second .027)

testing has shown opening the second ring gap improves the sealing of the top ring as it bleeds off inter-ring pressure which helps keep the top ring seated.

On a pump gas iron block 4.375 bore aluminum headed motor with 10.5 to 1 (with forged aluminum pistons, not Hyperutetics SP?)or lower I set the top gap at .022 or wider and the second ring at .026 or wider Wider is better, especially on pump gas street motor, on any motor that will build heat for substained periods of time in the combustion chamber

This is a iron head engine, no power aid's. Looks like .022 and .027 should be good. Any reason to open them up any more??

Thanks
Dan

None at all, those will work good Keep them square and make those readings with a tight fit Not loose, take your time on the last .002 Buy a good small sharpening stone to smooth the edges of the filed rings, top and bottom, front and back

My experience is that it doesnt make any difference if you go a little more than recomended.
I think speed pro rec 0.004 per inch of bore on top and 0.0045 second.
