Hi Folkes:
I'm building a Front Engine Dragster. Strickly for nostalgia
bracket racing. 514 Hemi powered ~880hp on alcohol.
I have double beadlocks for the car and I need to make a decision on
running tube or tubeless.
Is there a safety issue involved here or just a case of the tires
possibly leaking down overnight?
Thanks
Tom

i dont know anybody in the rear engine dragsters that run tubes. i know some with that horsepower that dont even screw the wheel, much less have bead locks.

my wheels are screwed on mine with 750hp, no tubes, and they dont leak air very fast. brand of tire makes a difference on how they hold air.

Its gonna make a difference if you need the extra
stiffness in the side walls.. on my brothers altered
we ran stiff sidewalls

Hi Mike:
The tires are Hoosier 33/17 16 and are stiff wall.
As long as there isn't a safety issue, I'll go tubeless.
Thanks
Tom

All Hoosier's tires are reccomended to be run tubless.

ditch the tubes, pour liquid dish detergent in the slick take a towel and wipe down the entire inside of the slick (load it up good), let it dry then repeat. this will help a lot with air loss it seals the pores in the slicks. yea i thought i was being yanked the first time someone told me to do it but it works.

I bought a set of M/T ET Streets, 12.50x30x15,that had 12 runs on them off of a heads up car that ran mid 8 in the 1/4, the sidewalls would not hold air tubeless until I soaked them inside like said above It works very well, I got another 120 runs out of them tubeless

OK - Tubes are ditched(I didn't really want to fight with them
anyway) I will probably use Murphy's Oil Soap since Hoosier
recommends it for tube insertion. I'm guessing that it will stay
pliable and won't break down the rubber. I all ears if there is
something wrong with my logic.
