I don't know if I have any pictures but will check, might be best to buy the pump mount from Ron's it mounts on the passenger side of engine 2 bolts to the timing cover, mount the vacuum pump on the drivers side motor plate, finding room for the alt. might be a problem. But on a door car you might be able to space them out a little more for some extra space for the alt..

No Fuel pump, but it would easily fit where the accumulator is. A word to the wise. Pulling vacuum from the fuel pump block off plate didn't work.

Why didnt pulling vacuum from the fuel block off plate work for you? I had considered this, now I'm wondering. Was it pulling a lot of oil? Or to much windage?

There is just to much oil flying around in there with most typical Mopar oil pan set ups. There is a lot of oil in suspension in the typical Mopar engine with the pans most guys run to pull vac from there.

I was thinking that might be the issue. That's why I had'nt bought it. I almost did yesterday, but thought I would have to make a shield for it. Then it got to deep in thought. I decided I was going to stay on top.

I thought I'd be fine with A Jessel, no timing chain. I sucked oil at 4000 RPM just sitting in the garage. It has a aluminum pan with only 9 Qts. Level is plenty low. I moved it to the front of the rocker cover, we'll see how it works.

Does your pan have a kick out? Are you running a crank scaper?

My personal experience is the fuel plate is the best spot especially if you are pushrod oiling.

The pan has a Kick out, a screen style scraper, and it is oiled thru the push rods. On initial fire up it filled the reservoir for the vacuum pump in about 10 minutes of running and puked it out the top. Thought it would be great location. The cam and crank (even though they are perfectly round in this area) must grab more oil than I would have thought.

A side kick out pan and scraper are good starts. A PROPERLY designed pan goes a long way to control windage and oil in suspension in a BB Mopar but they need to be correctly designed pieces that control the oil. Most of the stuff we see is not designed very well and leave a lot to be desired.

How deep is the pan?

I had a deep Charlies pan when I had my 588 in the Plymouth. It was about 9 inches deep with a kick out. I ran about 7 quarts in that pan.

Now I have a dragster style in my Barracuda. It is 5.25 inches deep and I have the same problem as you. I am planning to add a kick out and a scaper.

I have talked to lots of people and they all agree get the oil away from the crank as far as possible.

Having a properly designed oil pan with a scraper and some form of a windage tray is the way to go.

BTW how much vaccumm are you trying to pull?

Mike

I will set the vacuum at 12"-15"hg. It has a GZ kit. The pan is a Charlies with a though hole for the drag link. I forget hoe deep but it's a deep as could go in the car.
