How much "true" HP is needed to push 3800 lbs to 9.90s?

Yeah, I know it takes a sorted chassis, but I do believe mine is finally dang close.

Looking for real world experience....

Thanks

Your question got me to thinking about a reasonably cheap way to get to that power level. So, look for the post on the flat tappet B1 question! I see on my Computec it says 775 hp to get to 9.90 at 3800. 720, 750, 775, none are easy to come by cheap. But just maybe,,,,,,,,,,,

My 72 cuda weighed in at 3780 with me in it, 36 inch ladder bars, 499 with J&E 14.85 to 1 compression, Indy 440-1 cast heads, comp roller, 5500 T/A converter, trans brake 727 with 277 first gear, dana 60 456 rear, 14.5x32 goodyears.

1.31 to 1.33 60 ft, 9.89 at 134 mph. Certified Chassis Engine Dyno'ed at Meaux's Race head service. 787 hp 590 tq. shift at 7200

This was my old set up. A lot of changes since then.

My dart is a 511 B1 original, tube chassis car, 2 spd and 456 dana. I run a comp roller in it, shifting at 8000. Still working on it and tuning.

easy build a 10.90 engine and toss 12lbs of boost on it... done. I think by what i've seen on those handi-dandi HP calculators one would need about 720 RWHP to move frieght like ours....

This website is pretty fun to play with:

http://vexer.com/automotive-tools/1-4-mile-ET-HP-MPH-calculator

According to it, 775 hp is needed.
