Depends on your definition of a street car. I run a side slinger and am not afraid to drive it 30 miles. A race drive will eat bushings and the blower might try to eat something sitting down there.other than packaging sure why not.

Is this a drag week deal?

not to mention how big of a fuel tank you going to run on alky? you won't even be able to go 30 miles on a tank.

Procharger would be my choice but 2000 hp at 450 ish cid would likely be of very limited use on the street. I seem to recall some procharged applications that pulled the belt for the drive so not really sure what is possible. My combination should be good for a little more than 2000 hp but has no cooling and would need to haul a fuel tanker behind it to go anywhere.

I basically want to build a Larry Larson type deal just not as fast. I want to get good gas mileage.
I know mileage has improved with the progress with Turbos, EFI, etc & off boost will help with fuel economy.
I also guess, it depends on how much slower than Larry Larson you want to be...
To be in a similar league, my expectations, would not include good fuel economy, as one of the criterias

Cubic inch is not going to make a measurable difference in fuel mileage driving normal. Now under boost it will make a lot more horsepower. I’m thinking Larson is at 3 thousand + horsepower.
If you are not racing anybody heads up the turbo (s) would be the easier way for you to achieve your goal without disconnecting the blower.

For what you want to do, the turbo would be the best bet. It'd be simple to set up a boost control that limits your boost on pump fuel, but can be cranked up when you run on race fuel. I know of a supra that had two injectors per cylinder and two fuel tanks. A larger, pump gas, tank and a small race fuel tank. Not sure how the setup worked, but he could switch from street to race without hardly any grief. Just an idea. If it was purely race I would say the procharger might be the most simple setup, but for a dual purpose, I think turbos are the way to go.

I guess I am leaning towards turbo. My goal is a low 7 second car, but has to be extremely reliable/street able. I'm probably going to have The Race Shop in WI do the chassis and Goodwin Competition Race Engines build the motor. I've been saving for the last 6 years to build the car. I want it done perfectly. I wouldn't beat Larry Larson on Drag week, but if I can finish could probably take top 10
I'm not going to call your dream far fetched, by the words 7 second and extremely reliable/streetable is going to be some feet. No too mention extremely expensive, like in the 150k+ range. Don't let those cars fool you the are anything but "street cars" They are all out race cars w/ a few street items, not to mention the constant maintance they require. If 7's are your goal I suggest buying an ex-pro-stock car and adding lights, wipers, windows that roll down and a radio. Because by the time you are done, that's what you'll have. have you talked to any of those guys? See if you can find some of the old posts about drag week on here. See how many times Eddie had his engine apart then back together then apart again in one weekend. I wish ya luck
