First thing you do? Forget anything a Ford or GM owner tells you! While there may be SOME similarities, Mopars were generally pretty unique.
Like Barry eluded to, there's no set rules when it comes to scheduled production dates and engine assembly dates, just generalizations.
Two things you can count on for 99.99 certain. The engine assembly date is the ACTUAL date it was assembled, and the month reflected on the door sticker is the ACTUAL month the car was completed. However, the cars Scheduled Production Date may have varied (usually by a few days, but possibly even weeks or months!). Also, various engines seemed to be cast and assembled at varying times before being used in production, some were years appart while others were mere weeks.. Generally speaking 340's were cast and assembled fairly quickly, usually a month or two after being cast, and USUALLY made it into cars within a few days to a week or so depending on the shipping times to the various assembly plants.
