I have plate mounted a hemi into a 1968 Barracuda and the steering column is hitting the back of the cylinder head and there is no room for the rear most header tube to come past the steering shaft either.

who has experience on this install I know it has been done many time I just don't want to go the wrong direction with all of this.

Thanks, Bryan

Sounds like you used elephant ears and you put it too far back towards the firewall? Pictures sure would help.

The outer tube of the steering shaft needs to be cut back. See pic of original car.

This ia a must do... It sounds hard but very easy to do. You need to remove about 1 3/4"

Also if you looking for headers, TTI has the only headers that will fit out of the box. I worked eight months with them and they did a pefect job.

....there is nothing like driving my 1968 Hemi Dart around town and having people looking at you like you're nuts!!

Yep, the column needs to be cut-down. There are several different columns throughout the years and there is actually one that works without cutting it down, but not easy to find.
