The outer tube of the steering shaft needs to be cut back. See pic of original car.

Yep, the column needs to be cut-down. There are several different columns throughout the years and there is actually one that works without cutting it down, but not easy to find.
The funny thing about science is that if you change one miniscule parameter you change the entire outcome to the way you want it.

Dang... I have a 69 gts with no motor or tranny. A 426 hemi in it would rock... I have a 74 scamp 440 auto.... That is a 426 isnt it? Any way to mount it with motor mounts?
