Ok.I finally did it. Bought the engine I've been wanting for 5+ years now. I've read the sticky's and most of the posts on this board. All have been great but I still have a million questions, so I hope everyone will bear with me. First, has anyone put a A518(46RH) behind a 6.1? To me, it seems like the easiest way to get OD. Is there anyway to get around the $700 TTI header situation? I've read about some manifolds that will work, but all threads are incomplete. I'll start with those; have a few thousand more, but I'll start there. Any help is much appreciated.

watching this, I will be going with A518 as well. Jax, where did you find a 6.1? Please make a thread of your build!

I read somewhere Jeep GC manifolds work in an A-Body (I think the crate motor documentation), I went the TTI route.

FWIW, the January 2013 of Mopar Muscle has an article for putting a 904 behind a late model Hemi. "New Old School" by Dave Young p20

Local recycler; there is one on ebay now for CHEAP. All it took was for me to jump and find out I could have got it cheaper. Still got a good deal I think. It's out of a 300. It's just sitting in my garage...haven't even pulled the pan yet! I will do a build thread for sure. I'll be sure to leave out all the bonehead mistakes I'm going to make...unless it may help. The MM should be a good read, but I would really like to have OD. When I found out you can trim a A518 housing without hacking the car's tunnel, I just thought it would be having your cake a eating it too.

Why the hell would you do that...????????

While you're at it, swap the alternator for a generator, maybe find a way to install points-ignition on it...??? Even the 518 sounds dated for this idea. Whats wrong with the auto they come with? or an OD stick...???

Nothing wrong with the "newwer transmissions but If you run a stand alone system for the hemi, it won't work b/c you need the factory computer to run it, it is cheaper and easier to run a 727 or 904 plus you would need to rework the floors and tranmission tunnel, cross member etc to get it to fit they are big!!

Definitely want OD for the swap; the reason I am leaning towards the A518 is because of the cost and the fitment. Have you priced the cost to run a NAG transmission? It ain't pretty. Plus if I can avoid cutting up my car, I'm all for it.

There is going to be an affordable controller for the NAG1 soon, it will pick up speed from the driveshaft instead of the rear hub on the IRS in the original application.

Alex, do you know if this controller will allow flexibility for cam change?
