Cody, my 500 cube package was 440-1 heads cut to 62 cc to give 13/1 compression and still use a shelf flat top piston for best flame travel. I had basic bowl work on the heads at the time I ran them on the 500 shortblock and the car went 9.34 at 144 mph at 3,000 lbs using a single four intake with adapter to use a dominator carb. The adaptor/ plus small holley intake manifold allows leaving the runners longer than in a Dominator manifold. These same heads are now on my 528 making 900 hp after full porting. I would go for a 1.65 to 1.7 rocker ratio to gain lift at the valve. This motor is going to need some rpm (7500) to run its' best so if you can put it in the budget go with Titanium intake valves for longer life.
8..603 156 mph best, 2905 lbs 549, indy 572-13, alky

I run the 345 cnc -1s on my 500 with methanol injection. Went 9.16 @ 145. 345s are too big for a 500 cid gas setup but I never fooled with E 85.
I would run the 325cnc on a 500 cid gas setup.

On my 500" 400 block, I used the BCR aluminum caps and girdle, nice stuff. 4.15" stroke, 6.76" rods, and Flat top pistons (440 source kit.) I used Victor M/W heads so my compression is about 12.4:1. I would use the Indy heads. I have been fighting issues with the Victors rocker stands breaking. I only have a 4150 HP 1,000 cfm on the Indy 400-2 intake and the engine seems to want more carb, but that is the one I had from the old 451 engine. I used the ATI dampner too. It may cause alignment issues with the pulleys you use. Andy F makes a nice 3/8" pulley spacer that I used with a March pulley system for a Fluid dampner. I used a Comp solid roller 264/264 @ 0.050" HXL lobes, 1.6:1 rocker arms for 0.714" lift. The cam is OK for a street/strip car, but is all done at 6,100 RPM. I am looking at going with a larger cam after having the heads flowed.
