I have the ICCA book at it shows 3 version of the hoods from 1968-1969. Verison #1 was for early 68 cars and different bracing Version #2 was for late 68 cars and seems to be what I have on my 69 built in 3/1969 Version #3 had the cut outs for the air grabber option.
What is the chance that the hood I have came as original for the factory. I am asking because we are building a correct as built restoration and I am trying to decide if I need to get a different hood. I would hate to spend the money as this hood is in good shape and was advertised as being correct. The pic attached shows the car before we began the restoration/ blasting. thoughts?

thats a late 68 or early 69 hood...not sure of the cut date but id say its not correct as 3 69 is later production and would have the cut outs...that looks like a nice hood...i need a clean 68 hood for my car...somebody cut the vents out poorly on mine

Forget the hood, let's discuss that color
If the Air Grabber was available from the very first 1969 rr or GTX then ALL 1969 rr/GTX would have to have the cut-out hood openings. My Dec 16, 1968 SPD GTX has the cut-outs but no Air Grabber. That would make that hood a '68 hood regardless of SPD early or late.

Do the brace and skin have the cut out on your hood? or just the brace? I haven't looked at a very early 69 hood, but early 68's have the no cuts in the brace or hood, later 68, starting as early as 3/68 from what I have seen on org cars, has the brace cut like a 69 air grabber but no cuts in the skin. All the 69's I have seen have the brace and skin cut.

Also notice the small cuts in the skin of the yellow hood, this has to be done to fit 69 inserts in to a 68 hood as the insert retainer screws for the grill will not allow the 69 insert to fit flush with the skin.

based on those pics with match the ICCA book I have, the hood I have looks to be a late 68 hood. Those small cut outs you circled are from the factory I think.. thoughtd?
Yes, your hood is a late 68 and those cuts I circled are not factory, someone did that to install 69 inserts in a 68 hood. All you have to do to make that hood a correct 69 hood is cut the skin like the picture I posted of the 69 hood.
