The plan is to build a 500" based on a 400 block. Aluminum rods, and main caps with block filler. Looking to make about 700 hp on motor and have a 300 hit or so of nitrous. I have an eagle crank with the standard 400 mains. I am finding that the main bearing selection is very limited. I see 440 source carries chamfered clevite p-series bearings full groove. I am wondering if these will be able to handle what I have planned. Are there any other options that anybody knows of?? Any information or experience is appreciated.

Thanks, Cody

Sealed Power: Z4094M

King: MB555AM010..-- That's a .010 number.

i will second king bearings and also add that you should be running a girdle on the mains or be watching very closesly for cap walk.

If your crank has the right chamfer you do not need a chamfered main bearing. I have an eagle crank that was cut down to low deck main size and bearings fit it right out he of the box.

Welcome to the world of the red headed step child of mopar big blocks , main bearing selection for low decks suck .

Seen cap walk on mild 440 build,
But I do agree , a Girdle, and 'crete' the block1

Sorry, I can't help with that.

When I put aluminum main caps on my 400 blocks, I had them machined to 440 main bearing size. Precisely for the better bearing selection. Also, in case I ever go to an aftermarket block, my Callies crank with 440 mains will swap right over to the better block.
