I`m STILL working on wiring my heap and I`m sinking fast and my buddy before me butchered up some wiring so now I`m somewhat lost. I`ve got no voltage to the coil now w/the key on, no running lights and who knows what else. Was checking out different on line diagrams but got lost fast. I thaught this would be easy but I`m beyond pissed now...............3 long days later. Gotta figure somethin out before I light this piece on fire...............

Thump, If you do not have any experience in automotive electrical systems then find someone that does. Not being critical just giving advice that will probably save you some money in the long run.

You are going to have to start with the factory wiring diagram book for your car and go from there. Shouldn't be too hard depending on how many accessories came with your car. A good approach is to start uncluttering things by removing all the wiring that you are sure you won't use. Don't mean this as an insult, but if you have no power to the coil and no headlights, is the battery connected?

I used a factory book to do my Rampage to make sure
which wire is which ... I have a big suspicion you
dont have a hot going to the column/ignition switch
because the running/turn signals and ignition run
from the column

If you have an MSD box, you won't have power to the coil until cranking, the keyed power is sent to the small red wire of the box.

Hang in there.

One thing at a time....don't try to fix multiple problems unless you know they are related.

PM me if you want some phone support and I'll give you my cell number.

As far as having power to the coil with the key on you have to hve the "start" and "run" circuits tied together and powering the MSD "ignition on" (little red wire) as well as having power to the large red wire that is used as the main power feed.

Don't get too mad, once you figure it out you will be good for life because you will have a new set of skills to rely on. Got to get over the summit first and I think you are there man.

Good advice. Dom just work out your problems one system at a time.

Thankxxx guys. The batts hooked up and on, I do have elec. issues anyhow cos the hack I got it from re-wired a bunch of stuff and now that I`m hooking it up properly it`s not responding like it should. I think I figured out the coil deal and after some , I`ll get back at it...........maybe I sound stupid to some of you guys w/my basic questions and that`s fine cos I don`t know everything and don`t mind cos I`m humble and willing to learn instead of pretending to know or paying soeone else to do it for me. I will prevail TODAY! thankxxx again

Dom... I like to do 1 circuit at a time... some of them
do interface with another but that is usually 1 or
maybe 2 wires.... for the ignition and the running
lights/turn signals that stuff goes up the column
and there is usually 2 hot leads going up the column
but still the easiest way to to refer back to the book
(wiring diagram)... also make sure you dont have the
4 way flasher on with no flasher in it.. that will
mess you up.... LOL... I know

Hey man I did the same thing ...Ripped all the wiring out of
my truck and started over cos it was such a mess from the previous
owner's.
I used a full time 12 volt source with a switch to
trigger the MSD box .Some times its e-zer to start it hot by
getting it cranking and switch the box on...and fires right up.

The pos runs but can`t figure out the running lights and now the tach. My s@#$$y computer won`t let me see wiring diagrams to hook up my shift light and tach together...........really pissed right now and I may have to put it away for a while.........

I gave up trying to save my stock fuse block and just
brought a chassis wiring harness .It was 130 bucks shipped
and is simple/decent grade of wire ,with a fuse block/wire
that is labeled .I haven't hooked it up yet ...but it
seems pretty e-z. If you have a power probe that helps
figuring out circuits fast and easy .I got a cheap one from
Grainger # 1EKN4 .It works great for checking a + OR - circuit,
and can feed 12 volts .

Thankxxx for all of the tips and help and I finally have it about finished just need to hook up my MSD shift light and calobrate my wideband. Turns out my buddy I got the car from years ago had done some cheezy patch work wireing and by me hooking it up properly it was actually all wrong if that makes sense and I was chaseing my tail for hours not getting too much done and gettin ticked...........not fun. Decided to take Jeremiah up on calling him and he went out of his way to explain the wires their colors and where they`re SUPPOSED to go in the areas I had no power in and sure enuff, I found the mess and re routed the wires as they should be and we`re good to go. Used hardware store strip pannels and seperated grounds from the pos. wires cleaned up a TON of go no where wires and ran new wire from my gauge pannel to the MSD box and only kept the stock wireing I need for head lights, tail lights and blinkers. I soldered and used shrink wrap on every single wire end and what a difference...........can you say BRIGHT LIGHTS............ You guys rock..............peace. Wish I could fly ya out here Bobby.....maybe next time.

Guess I spoke too soon............go out to start my car today and no ignition check fuse box and blown fuse..........20+ fuses later and trying every wiring combo my friend and I can think of and still can`t figure it out. Turn key to crank position and fuse blows....I wired it right and now it`s all wrong. There was a problem w/the ign. when I got the car years ago and that explains why he bypassed the ign. switch and ran a remote switch w/activates the msd box THEN you hit the key to start it.........5-days later I`m beat and over this pos for a bit. How would one go about wiring up the ign. switch when many of the wires are gone and why the hell did it run yesturday and not today? Totally baffeling and I guess I realy have to earn this one............later.
