Hello, I am working on a 1967 Dodge Dart 2-door Hard top and I have the 10 point cage almost finished but I noticed something.....when I was sitting in the drivers seat and closed the door...I can't put the factory door arm rest base and pad on the door because it will hit the door brace. So..I know I am not the only one that has had this problem...so can anyone tell me what they did for an arm rest base for the inside door handle??? I am open for Suggestions? I want the car to look real good...so I want something that I can buy or make to make it look good when the door panel is installed. You can post here or send me an e-mail to; glr7069@ptd.net Thank you!

I just left them off. I too wish there was something to grab, usually just roll the window down and use the top of the door or the wing window handle.

Dustin is that a custom cage or a kit?

I assume the bars are already welded in... if so... cut them out and have bars made with a bend in them to go under the arm rest.. I'll get some pics today hold I did mine on the Rampage

Here in the NE division the bars have to be straight or it will not certify, I saw a beautifully crafted cage by a pro fail for that reason, door bar was bent for clearance. Sounds like your bar is already in though, I would modify the arm rest as others have described. I was lucky in that mine fit just beneath the armrest, 1-5/8 MS bars in an X, tied to a rocker sill bar (see pic).

If you run a brace bar from the bend to the base of the main hoop it will pass.... I have seen a bent door bar pass also

Well, I got a few old B body door arm rest bases and I have already cut one up to make one that will fit. I am not sure if I want to try and cut an old pad and use the factory hole in the base or not yet. It's either that or I come up with some sort of thing to pull the door closed...I thought I might go to Lowe's and get some ideas ??? and maybe go to a junk yard and start looking at some of the cars??
I took an old 5 point harness crotch strap, removed the hardware from it and attached it to the driver door using that big screw (with a big washer) on the top metal surface. Make it long so you can reach it when strapped in...
