I would paint the whole car with the same paint. I did the same thing your painter is talking about to my Challenger, base coat clear coat on the body and single stage everywhere else. I didn't like it. The two different paints didn't match very well and the single stage wasn't as shiny, almost looked flat next to the clear coat. Also the tape lines were pretty obvious and the two paints aren't compatible, like if you need to go back and touch up something make sure its the same kind of paint. I'm doing another car now and I will be doing base and clear on the entire car. Mine was yellow too.

If you want to match the color, find an area where the original color still exists, and is untouched....under the windshield gasket is a good place to find untouched original paint, as well as the door jamb area near the hinges, understide of the decklid...etc,etc If your looking to recreate the factory "look", go with the single stage on the entire car....if your looking for that over restored look, BC/CC the entire car... And no matter how closely you match the paint, there are too many variables that can influence it's appearance, primer/sealer shade value, coverage/painter technique, booth conditions, etc, etc,... From the photos, the battery tray is the more accurate color.
I agree. As the name suggests Sunfire yellow is a bright sunny light yellow. It's not like Banana, but it shouldn't look beige in any fashion.

This is correct but tough to tell from pictures.
