Ive had these pistons for about 10yrs, some guy gave them to me. He said they were for a 440, there is no name on them. Just says .040 over. Inside there are 2 marking an arrow on one side and a triangle with a - on the other. There are 4 valve notches and a 1/4 of it is raised up higher. They measure about 4 5/16. Is there anyway to figure out what kind they are?

Besides the .040 there appears to be some numbers on the top. What are those numbers?

To me they look like a 440 6PAK piston cut down

they look like a '70 six pak piston that has been milled to reduce compression but still have a quench pad for closed chamber heads. the first time i've heard of this was edelbrock doing it on a dyno mule engine. probably would work fine on an 84cc or 74cc edelbrock head. i wouldn't be afraid to use them. measure the cut and you can come close to calculating a compression ratio.

The LH I'll ASSuME is LEFT HAND , that would be on 4 pistons , 4 should have RH , unless it was milled off .

Not to come off like an [Edited by Moparts - Family Friendly Site - Keep it clean] but using a dial or digital caliper can you measure the piston diameter, the height from the top of the pin bore to the top of the piston and the depth of that step? That will help determine what the piston is instead of a just a picture and a measurement using what I assume was a 25ft tape measure?

It does look like someone spent too much time making a set of ashtrays. They made a 9.5 compression piston into a 8-1 piston. At least they are a little better weight now.
