there are three terminals on my voltage limiter.2 terminals are spliced together.the third is a stand alone.is the stand alone terminal 12v in. and the two shared terminals go to gauges.i have a pic of it all wired together if someone can make since of it. i think it may be wired up wrong. also the is a capisitor looking thing that goes to one of the terminals

i kinda wanted to get this wrapped up by the weekend. i found a replacement regulator, but it has 2 terminals and mounts different.

you didn't specify car or type of gauges, so generically, there are 3 prongs on the instrument vr.

1 end is attached to the outside case and is ground.
the middle has a capacitor pinned into the board with it and is 12 volts from the plug.

the third supplies the gauges with 5 volts.

so if you have any of the 2 wired together you either are supplying 12 volts to the gauges, or are running a dead short.

the ralley type should work the same, but I am unfamilar with how they are hooked into the gauges.

What Andrew said, I dont think 2 of the terminals are supposed to be spliced together & I'm wondering why someone had done that. Any possibility you can get the correct one?

so the 2 pin is just 12 volt power.
the other single pin is 5 volts out.
ground is the case, there is a cut out on one side that it bolts to the ground.
in the

part way down you can see he has lables on it wired up.
