Shopping for an aftermarket k-member for a duster. It is for my dad. I believe he wants coil over and rack and pinion. What is a good company and or any to avoid?

I only have had experience with the STR tubular K frame and it works perfect. There is a thread about it in here.

CAP.... works for me, pro street roadrunner, purchased it when ray still owned the company, so i cant say how Qa-1 is doing these days ...purchased the full kit, coil overs ,rack n pinion...your spindles require modification which he did for my car, also need to fabricate an upper shock mount....make sure you find a competent alignment shop...fastest mph to date is 138.9...pefect(also heim joint upper and lowers)

To each is their own I guess... I'm just glad there are options.

Sure, even though i'm just a customer and not a company spokesman.

it is well engineered for all aspects of cars not just drag racing.

it fits perfectly
bump steer is spot on
ackerman is spot on
it can be had with torsion bars, coil overs, anti roll bars, whatever brake system fits your fancy.
Its built strong so i don't have to worry about it being weak or needing any extra bracing.
Is it heavier than some of the drag race only parts? maybe but i would rather loose weight somwhere other than the front suspension.

My car goes 175 smooth as glass.

No bump steer at all!

Sure...

I have no financial interest in my response!

1. It bolts in place. Aside from removing some existing brackets (such as upper control arm bump stop - used a spot weld cutter and they were out).

2. No guessing on the install - the install instructions are well written. You can download them from the AlterK site.

3. Any questions - Bill answer's them right away.

4. I ran a bump steer plot using my laser toe gauge - needed no corrections.

5. Bill Reilly supplied a few additional parts that allowed me to use most of my MOPAR B Body Wilwood brake setup instead of buying a new kit.

6. Kit came with the Flaming River needle bearing U joints, and the one that goes on the bottom of the existing steering shaft is drilled with the correct size hole to pin it in place.

I've seen the AlterK on some other fast MOPARs, including Wes's Dart... Heard no complaints.

Compared to the other one I had - there is no comparison.

X2.....and currently on my 2nd AlterKation setup. All-around best there is, especially for multi-purpose use.

Another option for a "race only" front end application is the Comp Chassis setup. I would not hesitate to run their front end as well.

alterkation.......

myself, both my brothers and one cousin all use the alterKation frontend. it is on our street cars and race cars with thousands of miles on the street and 8/9/10-sec passes at the track without issue for many years. without question its the best front end on the market for mopars, period. dj
