The voltage regulator on my 69 R/T is unoriginal and the cover is unmarked smooth black plastic. Looking for a more OE look, but am unsure of how my original looked (red or yellow stamped).

Anyone have experience with these repo's? Do they work well? my SPD was Dec 68 so figured a date code of the 38th week of 68 was about right. for the price want to make sure I don't buy something very wrong or that function poorly.

Is the red stamp correct for my SPD of Dec 68?

TIA

Kevin,
I seel the same regulator( just no stamp) and have never had a problem with function.

Not 100% sure but I think most of the 69's were yellow print.

Thanks Bill.

My next question as I continue to read. What is the difference between an electronic regulator and a mechanical one? Can either be used independent of distributor? Right now I have a mopar electronic distributor in, but am going to install an original points distributor in the car real soon with a petronix inside it. Would this dictate/influence the regulator to be used?

Thought I read somewhere that early 69 builds had red stamp later were yellow....can't find where I read that though. Anyone have details when transition occurred?

Electronic ignition would benefit from the electronic controlled charging system with it's more constant/smoother voltages, but imo would not be a 100% required upgrade.

I've seen the red printed regulators but have it in my head they were more common in the 67 or maybe 68 or so model years.

Then again I remember something on the A12 board to the fact maybe early 69's had it as well, just not sure when the changeover was made.

A buddy of mine has several NOS ones and they are all red print, but they are non dated over the counter replacements

I always thought that 67-8 and heard very early 69 had RED.
Yellow was 69 (don't know how early though).

i,m beginning to suspect it was a vendor deal..both could be correct if you don't have your original.. dan
