Thanks everyone. I knew the value wasn't much. He offered them to me but I want to give him something. I'm not gonna run them. I'll put them away for the next owner. Appreciate the responses

1) They are worth more than scrap value due to the closed chamber design. 2) I made 325 REAR WHEEL HP doing low 13's at 106 mph in a 3600 vehicle. Definitely more than 300 hp. Give the guy $25-$40, home port the bowls, gasket match the intakes, add the 1.74 exh. valve (w/hardened seats) and you will be pleasantly surprised. What little you'll give up on top end, if any, you'll gain from better throttle response with better compression.

I agree that they can be lightly cleaned up and ported to make decent power, however that doesn't change the fact that they are still about the cheapest and least popular iron BB mopar head on the planet.

I toss all of the 516 heads that come into my shop into the recycle bin.
Sooooo, recycle would mean at least "scrap value"!! Technically, not totally worthless. I'm currently purging ALL my 902, 452 and 906's and can't get an e-mail, fax, text, PM or anything for them. Got a big metal pile going now.
It's a big hobby, plenty of room for everyone. Lots of guys don't have an Indy or Edelbrock budget, does this mean they can't play?? Or just stay under the radar of the elite.
Yeah, the heads are the redheaded stepchild of the Mopar big block foray. Even worse is the stuff before it (excluding Max Wedge of course) but those aren't as common. I did mine back in the mid-90's when I was starting a family. It ran good for what it was and I had fun.
The days of freshening an old shortblock out of the barn and putting some fresh homeported heads on to see how it runs aren't worth the time & hassle.
No big thing, just sayin'!

I agree they arent worth much.I did mine with 2.14 and 1.81 SS valves ,springs, etc. My machinist ported them some and they were at 450 HP.Put them on my kids 413 and went aluminum on my 440.Had almost 1100 in them when they were finished.Rocky
