Looks too wide to me also. The reason we can tell is experience. You get an eye for that kind of thing when you do it often enough.

Gotta measure all 8 paddles when there,s a missfire problem too. I,m guessing Don gets mad if people ask questions trying to help.

no i dont get mad cuz someone asked questions..

the reluctor is .008, but how-ever i did not check each one..

I will do that in a few and if they seem good then i will move the reluctor around to the other hole and see what happens..

It would be hard to tell from the pic if it's off as my brand new(1st ever ) digital camera does trick the eye like that without even trying. .008 is good. When a paddle is lined up square with the pickup magnet is the rotor pretty much under a dist cap terminal.

well i give up lol..i have it running good with the original ign system (points) i tried everything and it has to be the PU coil.. I have a new (not rebuilt) dist coming.. so it will points for now.. thanks to all of you who tried to help and gave suggestions.

I had electronic ignition on my shovelhead that gave me fits. Went back to points and never looked back. Still running them since 1979. Even though I know better,I still like the K.I.S.S. saying today.
