I wired up some headlight relays I got from Summit based on the MAD upgrade. I never did any voltage testing to see what I had at the headlights before and after, but the headlights are definitely brighter now than they were before. Easy upgrade and it makes sense - full power is now getting to the headlights from the alternator, and you're greatly reducing the current that is normally running through the headlight switch.

I made my own harness using 12awg wire. I was losing 1-1.5 volts before the headlights  Now I'm losing maybe 0.1v  But yea, noticeably brighter now.
If you ever find yourself in a fair fight, your tactics suck.

I installed headlight relays on my D250 using this as a guide: http://www.dieseltruckresource.com/dev/showthread.php?t=176263It made an awesome difference and no wires were cut in the process. I'll do the same thing to the Imperial this weekend.

I didn't buy a kit, just made my own harness and used some good relays. On my 87 Suburban, a few years ago. The low beams are as bright as my high beams used to be, and on high beams I can actually see deer lurking around, waiting to jump out in front of me before they do. Well worth the time and money. The crappy factory wiring must have been 22 gauge. I went with 12 gauge straight from the battery. HUGE improvement.

I tried asking this last week on this but it didnt post. what do you do for the Running light circuit and brake lights turn signals etc.? Do you do the same for that position on the light switch as well as the low beams?? can it be done or did you not worry about that?? if you can share any more advise and lessons learned that would be great. I agree. Besides, where's the relay going to be? Up front only on the fronts? No point. The headlights serve as your safety/other-driver-alertness lights up front.
Another relay for the rears? Under the dash to clutter that up? Or how about one under the dash to run both ends. Then you've got to got to get the good power to the relay. Through the bulkhead connector? What's the point?
BTW, my headlights are on relays. I didn't use Mad's kit, but another vehicle junction box for the relays - same difference. Major improvement.
Gotta get it done someday on my daily driver.
