i feel the same way, now if i only could do some cheap mods....

mine all start out cheap and either end up costing me 3x more than it should or it doesn't work at all and i have to go buy a new something....
converting to 3 wire toyota alternator- fried the first alt.
upgraded oil pump- fried 6 bearings

the list goes on and on...

Moving the battery to the trunk back in the day was really noticable.

"BEST CHEAPEST" mod was doing my own bowl/port match grinding to some big block cylinder heads. At the time I also added a 3" dual exhaust that dumped at the rear axle. This brought me a 3-4 mph gain through the traps.

The proverbial " I love it when a plan comes together!".

I'm just a little bored sitting here at work with nothing to do.
I started thinking what else could I do to my car that
#1. is easy
#2. is cheap
#3. has proven benefits
#4. is fun (love tinkering)

So guys what have you done to your car that was cheap, easy to do and you see or feel benefits from?

Home made ingenuity, store bought, what ever it may be lets hear about it. And if its home made pics are encouraged!

#1. is easy - couple hours install
#2. is cheap - right around $100
#3. has proven benefits - maximizes HP
#4. is fun (love tinkering)- plenty of tinkering once you install it.

i just put an A/F gauge and O2 sensors in my '74 Challenger. now i'm really gonna dial the carb in. cost me around 100 bucks.

here's the link.

http://www.amazon.com/Equus-8366-Fuel-Ratio-Gauge/dp/B000EVU9RY/ref=pd_rhf_ee_p_t_3

it's a dual gauge that you can connect 2 O2 sensors so you only need 1 gauges. it works with both wide or narrow band sensors. welded bung in the exhaust pipes right after the collectors. one wire from each sensor to the gauge and a power and ground to the gauge. i used 2 Bosch narrow band sensors. i gotta break out my carb kits.
