racing the dart last night at are newly reopening of irwindale dragstrip. i had the hood off since it was in for painting. in the final round of the money bracket i was just about to cross the line and HOLY YOU KNOW WHAT i cant see any more. i thought it had split a radiator hose, but what had happened is i pushed out the oring on the filter. there was so much smoke and oil that i could not see where i was on the track. the shut off at that track gets narrow and dark. after pulling over and the saftey crew arived it caught fire from the oil on the headers. it was put out quick and there was no damage. i should have listened to you guys about the choice of filters. it was the napa 1515. a lesson learned in life. its funny that that same filter had about 20 runs prior. i got lots of cleanig to do this weekend as oil is all the way down the leftside of the car, roof door and major mess in the engine compartment.

How much oil pressure did the engine have and was it a standard or high volume pump. I just replaced my high volume pump with a standard volume pump and my oil pressure seems much better now but I will find out for sure tomorrow at the track.

it's the high volume pump. i do think the standard would work. as the the final round, we agreed to split the winnings with a $20.00 side bet. we were .003 different on r/t's and i did'nt run my number because of the issue.

I built an import motor for a friend and he did the same thing.... We fired the engine up and oil squirted out of the back side of the engine, and on this engine its faster to remove the head then the intake to see what happening, or go from the bottom and remove both axles, and upper control arms etc. etc. etc.
so we poped the head off, and couldn't find the leak... cleaned the head gasket (single layer multi use type) put it back together (hours of checking everything else). fired it up and same thing. With a few small mirrors and a third person we could see it spraying from the oil filter o ring- he crushed and split the o ring when he put it on.... so be careful with that

well i did'nt have the 5151R, it was just the 1515. it did grow longer. i'm now going to bite the bullet and get the system one and be done with it. the question is if any one out hear has had the similar thing happen and how did your bearings look? i don't want to take apart if ness but will. lets hear if you have any imput. i did drain the oil and theres a lot. it did'nt run dry or even close.

hey al, yea it did. i've spent hours sruirting palmolive on the car and engine. it came out clean except the felt on the driver window has oil in it that i'm scratching my head in how to clean it since every time the window goes up it transfers oil to the glass.

I just changed out a high volume oil pump on my duster as the pressure went up over 130# during a pass. I went with a standard pump this time as several other members have had issues also. Thank God I had a racepak in the car so I could see what was going on during my pass.
