The first pass went 11.60@115 1.64 60ft. Then on the second pass engine felt a little flat and when I pulled up to get my time slip the engine sounded like it was missing. Get back to the trailer and it was definitely missing. So we loaded up and pulled the valve covers at home and found that #1 exhaust and #4 intake rocker arm adjuster was backed way off. These are Harland Sharp rockers. Has anyone else had this problem? The bottom side of the rocker where the adjuster goes though has some thread damage from the push rod.

Had a set of HS rockers on another smallblock once and had the same thing happen, took the adjuster out and run a tap thru and cleaned the threads and put the adjuster back in, I found I had not tightened the adjuster's that loosened up enough, snugged them just a little more and had no more problems.

I know T@D calls for a torque value of 5 to 20 inch pounds, the problem is pulling the aluminum threads in the rocker body so I would call HS and have them give you an answer, looks like you still have 95% of the thread still there, I would tap them and run them.

Yep I would concur that it is just a case of not enough torque on the adjuster nut. Plenty of meat left there I would not hesitate to run it. I could show you want we did just running it on jackstands in the pits this weekend. Much uglier than what you ahve there.

YEP Yep Yep... Had identical problem with Harland Sharpe Rockers. I think they went thru a bad batch of adjustors and we had issues until we replaced ALL of the adjustors and lock nuts. Alhough my cousin just went thru the same issue on one of his intake rockers this weekend, I STILL believe they are the best rocker arms for a Mopar. Just my opinion. Good luck

You need to be very carefull choosing a tap to clean this up. Get a very good one, not el-cheapo tap. I found this out the hard way. Actually, you would be better off taking a good new grade 8 3/8x24 bolt and cutting a slot up to about the 4th thread and clean out the rocker arn with it. I tried to fix a rocker at the track one time and borrowed a cheap tap and it cut the threads so loose that the adj bolt just wobbled around in the rocker. Just my 2 cents worth. Brian Dunnigan

Like everyone else said, only time I've had that happen w/ my Harland Sharps was when I didn't get the adjuster tight enough. I ran a tap through it, put it back together, and haven't had any trouble since.
