Hi All,
I'm looking into getting an MSD Ready-to-Run Distributor for my 440 motor. The product description for the Mopar one says (and photo shows) an HEI cap (which I thought was a GM thing?).

Is this what most Mopar guys run on their MSD distributors? Do these HEI caps work better? I assume this means new plug wires as well, right?

Thanks for any info!

I cannot ans (1) & (2) but if you go that route yes new plug wires or just new HEI(90 degree) ends(different boot & metal terminals) which do come with alot of spark plug wire kits.

We have the GM type ends on our MSDs.Much better than the slip ins and the retainer keeps them on.The ends are easy to change.Just make sure your present wires are real good or you will have a nice lighting display under your hood.Rocky

I am also buying this distributor. I don't want to crimp/cut any wires. Are there any stock kits made for using this on a 440? Should I also get a coil w/ an HEI end (if there is one). If there is, does the wire kit come set up for that as well...

factory chebby HEI dist's have the coil( a square transformer looking device) in the top of their HEI distributors so the regular canister coil tops(for the rest of us) are the same. You might call FBO & hear him out about coil selection. I liked what he had to say.

It may be a Ford cap, not a GM HEI.
The Mopar Magnum cap can also be used on a Mopar dist with the adapter from Robb Mcs Performance.
