Took off my side view mirror to put different mounts and the proper hardware to mount it. Got the mounting kit from Year One. The mounts are to small for the holes in the door. The old mount in the door has some kind of ridge on it to hold it in the door. Did I get the wrong mounts? And how do you get the "ridged" mounts back in the door? Any suggestions would help.
New mount is on the right and the old is on the left in the picture.
Thanks!

You use a tool to swage the insert into the door.
I think you can do it with a screw and washers/spacer?

I had a difficult time with the "replacement" ones I got from a supplier. They spun once installed. I ended up using some nutsert type that grabbed the sheetmetal better. I also put a small dab of loctite red on them before I installed them.

of course someone before you could of enlarged the holes too big - you said you were correcting the previous incorrect hardware...

That is the right tool, and my local Menards has them for something like 10 or 15 bucks, with 4 different sizes of the threaded rivets included (including the right size for the side mirrors). It's a Menards brand tool, so I would think any Menards would have them. It was in the same section as the pop riveters. I should still have the packaging if you want the part number.
