We finished up one of my favorite engines, 400 block, 4.25 stroke,Callies billet I-Beam rods,CP Flat top pistons, 13 to one compression, our custom ring pack that we have been using, 440-1 325 Heads,CNC ported by Indy, T@D single shaft rockers 1.6 ratio, single 4500 manifold, Pro systems 1050, our shelf solid roller 279/290 on 112 installed at 108, .471 lobe lift and VP 110 Fuel. What a great bracket engine these make.

They are great combos and take about all the head you can throw at them. For dual purpose cars I like a little tighter spread and phase it a bit earlier just to get the torque peaks to come in at a more street-friendly RPM without compromising the head flow. You give up a little power way up top but the torque still stays "Massive"....it's just 'all-in' a bit earlier in the Rev range.

Pete,
Wow! That's a bunch out of an engine like that. You prefer the 440-1's over the EZ heads? Any reason?
The reason I ask is we have a 512 RB we run on pump, and it is a beast, at least to us anyways as we close in on the 9sec barrier. Just curious if maybe we picked the wrong heads, or its all the porting you did on those. Yours peaks right where we shift now at 6300rpm...Easier on parts and doesn't seem to hurt our ET.
Could that engine be run at that compression on E85?

What's the bob weight? Those can be pretty light.

Nice numbers. I currently have a 511 in my 3000# Duster. The best I have run with it is 10.00 @ 135.26 mph. That was at 6100' corrected elevation.
My set up is: 4.25 crank, 6.535 length rods, dome pistons that make 14.3 compression ratio, 440-1's touched up by Dwayne Porter(no porting), ProSystems carb(90p90s jets), timing set at 36*, 2" Hooker fender well headers, 1.6 Indy rockers, Comp cams roller cam .631/.631 272 in/280ex @.050 lobe lift .421 installed @ 106. The total lift is .672. I would love to get mine on a dyno to see what it actual makes for power.
Maybe I am missing something. Any suggestions appreciated.
