basic 440 cast number 2536430-5

D N pointed at the d

on clock type points to the 7 oclock position wtih a smaller dot on on the 11 oclock position

Has the ID pad been machined smooth? What about the VIN pad?

curious about WHAT ??? it's possibly a 71 model year engine if it was ASSEMBLED on the date you say , but I'm guessing that date is the CASTING date on the side of the block ?

Is this number stamped or cast in ? If stamped WHERE is it stamped ?

What does the engine ID pad under the distributor have stamped into it? that will tell you the most about the way the engine was built.

The distributer pad

has H 440

Below it a 804 or 8 4

I am just trying to get as much info as possible about the original motor. I am just curious.

I know the motor is a different motor due to the work done on it. It is bored .30 over balanced and has head work with 915 heads. Crane gold 1.6 roller rockers and a bigger cam. It has a performer RPM intake and holley 750 carb, Electronic ignition. It has TTI exhaust with the H-pipe.

Its a std fare NON HP low compression 1972 440 assembled on August 4 1971 , had a forged crank originally, it wasn't installed in any performance model , came out of a C barge.
