Has anyone used one of these Girdle kits?
They claim there ARP Hardware, do ALL ARP hardware have ARP stamped into the studs & nuts?

Yes I have one in my 512 also noticed that studs were not arp called seller and was told they were made by arp for his application I dont believe that. But he assured me that he has many in use at 900 hp levals with no problems I did use them and as of yet had no problem at about 650 hp but is always in the back of my mind and would like to replaceat some time for peace of mind. Also the the extra studs reccomended for rear main will not work so dont bother with them I guess the studs are prbly better then 40 year old bolts and the quality and fit of girdle makes it a decent bargin.

You will notice that the wording realitive to ARP has been eliminated from the newer ad.
Also, thats a pretty ghetto way of spacing the girdle off the main caps. The picture shows 2 washers, a 12 point nut, another washer on top of the nut, then the girdle. The nuts look like Pro-Comp stuff. The pricing indicates the same.

Girdles are a bandaid, not a solution. The only thing they do is provide front to rear stud rigitity(SP, stiffnes to the main fasteners front to rear ) Buy a good set of main caps and real ARP studs and go for it, unless your planning on making more than 700 HP in a stock block and run the dog snott out of it regulary on pump gas, like I do In that case buy a good block

My machinist pretty much echoed your sentiments. Hope he is right

I'm putting an engine together for a friend and he bought the mancicni girdle kit. Nice complete kit but same issue. The long main studs in the kit I am certain are not arp and to make things worse when torquing them down to measure the mains one snapped off. It appeared the hardening process was not right. Mancini said they would replace all the studs with arp but I don't know if they can due to proprietary rights of someone. There have been posts on here about trying to buy these studs direct from arp and they couldn't.

Girdles also do a gret job of captuing the oil right to the front & rear main seals causing leaks. Don't ask us how we know. Found out the hard way. After we clearanced the girdle back away from the counter weights on the front & rear pan seal areas all problems were resolved.

We have taken over the bcr product lines and only sell arp hardware in our kits. yes its a little more expensive but well worth the extra insurance when your putting it into your bottom end. we sell girdle kits with caps and just the girdles with hardware. our girdles are 1/2" thick.

Yeah, but so are aftermarket main caps, running hard-blok, etc. Some of us can get away w/ a band-aid (or two ), while others are wasting their $$$ to even bother w/ an OEM block due to the power level they make.

Very true . Trying to decide what you can get away with is like trying to hit a moving target while riding a bicycle. Part of the game - how fast can I go with this amount of $. If $ was no object, it wouldn't be that much fun - for me.

Just an update on the mancini kit. Apparently they have had more than just my problem with the studs in their kit. They are trying to get arp studs but may take 5 weeks so they have offered to replace their kit with a hughes engine kit.

that girdle kits looks pretty ordinary, 440 source kits are way better, Chenoworth even better again and they both use ARP hardware
