Hey guys- I picked up a super clean 413! It is a RV motor built 4/71. Came complete top to bottom with only 60K miles or so. Air cleaner says 265 HP. Has the HUGE water pump and exhaust manifolds. This engine gets the "most cast iron" award! I am assuming the torque to be around 450-500 FT Lbs.? Can someone give me a website or two for other specs on the industrial/ motorhome engines. The RB pad says GT 413 and a letter "D". The heads are a 2899943 or 948- can't quite tell on the 3 or 8. I have never heard of these castings. Any help would be great!!

G= Year code for 1971 T= Truck 413= Displacement D= ?
2899 943 is the correct head casting number for the '71-'77 truck 361/413.

What do you want to know? Have a '72 413 that's being converted to street use, was going to stroke it, but parts are falling into place to build it as a 6-71 blower motor....
The heads are closed chambers, I had to magnify. the number to read and couldn't find a thing about them, not usable for what I was doing so they sold!

"That block should go 70 ...EZ." Stout blocks, but your hunting 383 standard bore, or 426W STD, Just not much off the shelf. Custom pistons will kill the cost of the build

Custom pistons FERR-SURE ain't cheap ... butttt to put MY package together it might have to be an expense I will have to bear.
The last set of NEW flat-top +30 pistons I bought were about 200$. And they MIGHT NOT work with my combo since I need a higher CD and maybe a mild dome. Those 943 heads have a HUGE combustion chamber - even though they are a closed design.
R70 ... I think I might have emailed you about those parts when they were on eBay !!

I found Summit carries KB962 hypers ($250)& TRW cast #z366np ($340), both 4.25 bore- should work. I am keeping the block and crank, rods- that's why I bought it.
Make sure they're Mopar, the valve reliefs are not correct on brand F or X.... AndyF has tied just about every way possible to use other brands pistons, with YARD SALE results!
440G.. Yep we talked, and thanks for the infor!
