Looking to help my '65 300L breath better as the OEM filter/air cleaner combo is way too small. Any suggestions for an off-the shelf solution that would bolt right on?

Thanks

??????????
Is it possible that you have confused a carburetor description with an air cleaner? If your 413 has a single inlet on the air cleaner, that isn't considered a ONE barrel. Some call it a single snorkel. If this is the case, there is help out there! Measure the diameter of the point at which the steel air cleaner assembly contacts the carburetor. Take that number and go to an auto parts store and ask for an aftermarket open element assembly. If need be, bring the original air cleaner assembly with you.

Mea culpa for the NooB mistake. Yep, "air cleaner" is the name of the game. The OEM unit is super small and I'd like to give the 413 a chance to take in larger gulps of air.

Do you like CHEAP?
You could simply use a flat lid atop the filter that is in there, in effect making your current assembly into an open element unit. Many guys toss out stock stuff when they switch to aftermarket parts. Maybe a local junkyard has what you need. Look at the trucks. Many of those parts are still on the trucks when they get pulled and crushed.

Do you like EVEN cheaper? Just flip the stock lid upside down!

You must not be too familiar with early mopar air cleaners They would look pretty funny with the lids flipped.

I believe a '65 300L should have this unsilenced air cleaner, does it?

If not, check out Nick's Garage , there may be a dual snorkle top to match your base. Does your car still have the small throat (~4-1/4") diameter AFB? ..... or has the carb been changed?

Nothing about 1965 Chrysler 300L sounds cheap!! Got Pics?

Thats the design that I expected to see. When you remove the "lid", the filter stands wide open from the sides and top. In that scenario, a newer flat lid would be the way to go.
By the way.... WHEN did ma Mopar ditch the inverted air cleaner design for the more common type? Early 70s?

1969 was the last year for the "flat" style base with a larger "lid".

Pics attached as the car came off the semi. Needs a good detail... and a dual snorkel. You're right, the OEM config is an unsilenced air cleaner and original carb. Except for an orange pinstripe on the chrome (coming off the car ASAP), the car is original right down to the convertible top. Will check out Nick's garage. Thanks!
