I just swaped from a 904/318 to 4 speed i bought a drive shaft for 727 8 3/4 but as now havent changed the rear what i want to know for sure is can i put the 727 yolk onto the orignal 904 shaft till i swap out the rear?

You can if the U joints are the same. Mopar used two different U joints. See if both shafts have the same joints. If so the yokes will interchange. If not you can buy a conversion joint that will allow you to put that yoke on the other shaft. I have two of those joints myself and have had to use them on occasions when swapping out center chunks in an 8 3/4.

Well i thought so as thought 904/727 tranny were same length that the pig was shorter otn a 8 3/4 them 8 1/4

904 is about 4" or so shorter than a 727, but the 8-1/4 and 8-3/4 are the same length I believe.

I thought there was like a 1-1 1/2" differance between a 8 1/4 and 8 3/4????

There is about 1.75" difference between an 8-3/4 and a 7-1/4. I'm relatively sure 8-1/4 and 8-3/4 are the same.
