Why is the V8 engine in my '65 Coronet crooked, or offset to one side in the front if you will? By offset I mean the front of the engine is further to the passenger side than the rear of the engine. Are all older ('60's) Mopars this way? How much is the offset? I've been asked these questions, but can't answer them.

It is my understanding that all early b's are offset like that. You can also see the rad brackets are off set as well so it is not closer on one side or the other.

As long as it's straight in the frame, as in parallel to the frame rails, it's correct. They did it for more steering box clearance, and more room in the drivers footwell area.

the motor should be offset evenly, not angled.
Tell all your Brand X buddies that Ma Mopar did it to offset the driver's weight, making the car handle better!

actually I am pretty sure it is angled. Not sure anymore which side, but one of the brackets for the rad is deeper than the other so the fan is parallel.

He's saying the motor is not parallel to the frame rails.

Exactly. The front of the engine is more toward the passenger side...cooked...not parallel to the frame rails.

check your motor mounts.

Clean it, if it's Dirty. Oil it, if it Squeaks. But: Don't fix it, if it Works!

I once fitted the transmission mount back to front and it did the same thing. Make sure yours is fitted the right way and the transmission tailshaft is centred in the tunnel.

Could be all the mounts as stated or the rear end has broken the locating pin and the torque is just doing its thing.

again, no, that is how they are built.
The radiator mouting brackets are factory set up so one side is deeper than the other so the fan is parallel to the rad since the engine is cocked.

My motor got out of sink like that when my stock tranny mount went bad.
