do you have tail lights too?
or are they out as well?
could indicate where your power problem is if the tail lights are getting power but your dash lights are not, since they're typically on the same fuse/circuit

Okay by dimmeryou mean the one on the floor or the one in the dash? Either way I'd check the other.

The headlight switch should have a built in dimmer on it, turn the lightswitch shaft to the right, clockwise, to dim and left, counter clockwise, to brighten the dash lights and turn on the dome light

in older mopars, they are on the same circuit so you know if your tail lights are not working... - this is the first thing I would check...
