Stock front 10.8 rotor and pin caliper minus about 5 pounds for adapter bracket.

Rear 11" finned drum,backing plate, shoes, cylinder and hardware on scale .Almost 35 pounds each side!The amazing,complete Baer Iron-Sport set-up is less than 19lbs!

I didn't try to look for a weight savings on my brakes. The front rotors alone are 27 lbs each.

When I picked this stuff up 7 years ago there were no big brake kits for old Mopars so I built my own.



They do fill out an 18" wheel nicely.




The stopping power is impressive. There is no fade unless you ride the brakes for a mile or two. The stops are smooth and short.
After driving with modern brakes on an old car you won't ever want to go back.

Looks good! I believe that is C5 Corvette stuff with a Baer logo.

Yes it looks like vette stuff in the front kit and mustang cobra in the rear? But it does not say Ford any where .Baer said a 15/16 master. I havent installed it all yet and we are all snowed in anyhow.

I'm pretty sure those are Ford Mustang derived parts both front and rear. I assume that is a 13 x 1.0 inch rotor up front?

Those are OEM quality calipers that Bear buys from the same vendors who sell to Ford. (PBR for the front calipers and a company in Brazil for the rear calipers) Mustang pads should work on both ends of the car.

DoctorDiff sells the same basic parts but I think he charges a little less for his kit. That is a nice setup for a street driver. Much better than anything Ma Mopar ever put on the muscle cars.

I wouldn't doubt that they're OEM parts. It's a good way to get quality stuff on the cheap.
When I was digging through the brakes used by the cars we have at work only the Bentley and Rolls-Royce brakes actually had the car manufacturer names cast into them.
Some of the Mercedes AMG brakes made by Brembo had the Mercedes star on them.
The vast majority of the calipers had no auto makers names on them, not counting stickers.

Since they made custom hubs to fit the car, chances are the rotors are off the shelf parts too. Again, this drastically lowers cost without degrading quality.

There's nothing at all wrong with using stuff like that. You can save a bunch of cash and add some serious upgrades to your 40+ year old car.

Andy you are correct, I had the wrong picture in my head lol!

You were close, most of the Vette brake calipers these days are sourced from PBR just like the Mustang calipers. But the Vette stuff is a little different and I don't think pads interchange. I'm about 99% certain that the Baer Mopar kit uses a Mustang Cobra caliper and pad.

The Baer rotor is also a Mustang Cobra rotor, but I think they are machined for a Mopar sized center hole. So a parts store Cobra rotor probably will not fit.

The Baer stuff is really high quality. They do a good job with their kits which is why I often recommend their stuff to people.

The high end cars all use Brembo as their caliper supplier. Merc, Porsche, Ferrari, etc.

The next rung down is the pony cars and they basically all use PRB brakes. Some of the really powerful pony cars upgrade to Brembo stuff on special editions or race packages.

There are various Mopar kits available that use either PBR or Brembo calipers. My Viper kit uses Brembo calipers as does some of DoctorDiffs kit. He also sells a PBR based kit like Baer's. XV sells a PBR kit also.

Baer also makes some high end calipers themselves. The 4T, 6P and 6S kits are all custom Baer designs.

(I covered all of this in my B-body book. I did several chapters on brake systems in the book.)

Front rotor is 1.1 thick and the hat height is 2.25 ,more like C4 vette style /size. Got the kits from Jegs front PN 4141006 and rear PN 4142020 .A little hint they do price match .

Does the rear kit utilize the Tapered bearings or do you have to switch to green bearings...
