shamefulcuda OP mopar S Joined: Apr 2006 Posts: 453 California	Im working on a 69 roadrunner 4 spd car. I just had the transmission rebuilt and I'm wondering what color the 4 speed is suppose to be (black, cast iron color?, aluminum paint??) Also is the bellhousing the same color as the engine, hemi orange? Thanks for the help

burdar Owen's Dad Joined: Oct 2006 Posts: 7,367 Iowa	The trans should be natural...unpainted. Install the bell housing before you paint the engine. Whatever paint gets on the bell housing when you paint the engine is correct. If using spray cans, you'll have to accually paint more of the bell housing though.(a spray gun will have a wider pattern)

You can add a metal presrvative like ECSs RPM to keep it rust free and looking new.The bell housing was attached to the engine when the engine was painted and usually recieved a fair amount of overspray. Not typically completely covered.

RoadRunnerJD master Joined: May 2004 Posts: 5,123 Warrenton, VA	I cleaned mine, painted it with Eastwood's rust encapsulator and then painted it with Eastwood zinc phosphate which is a dark gray, natural darkened steel look that I think looks pretty good.
