Well, the 408 stroker is back together with W2 heads. Just needs the rockers put back on and the lash adjusted and the oil primed, and she is ready to put in the car. Too bad the car isn't ready for the engine yet. Plus he still has the trans to finish, but said that won't take long. Man have I got work to do to finish painting the engine bay... Hone: Notch for clearance: Install girdle and main studs and line hone: Assembled: Engine bay:

Lots of sanding left to do before I am ready for final paint...Sure would be easier without all that stuff in the way.... That is a Mopar POS one I modified the heck out of...Stupid thing had a heat riser for the plenum built in that I milled off and then had welded back up...I also ground off anything else I didn't need except the part number. Heck the hole for the carb wasn't even close, and I had to mill the opening about 3/16 on the front edge. It was blocking the first two barrels of the carb...

Very nice. That is what I am up to, but I am not going to weld up all the little holes on this one. I will be pulling the grill to fix that and repaint that back to argent silver. It seems like it takes forever to sand it all down.....

Is that tunnelram W-2 only? If so is it a good intake?

The one I have fits W2 only. I do believe they made them for brand X engines as well, but for Mopar, they only fit the W2 heads.
As far as it being a good tunnel ram, I have seen it used on some low 10.0 cars with good success, so I am assuming it is. When you look down the runners into the ports, its a perfect match on my set-up....

Why did you have to open up the core support? If your using a crossflow radiator the tanks usually fill uncut space perfect and the fins start at the opening.
To fit my 31x19 Radiator...Love these on the street. I haven't seen one yet get to 190*....Besides, its a lot easier before I paint it and the guy who had it before me already put two large holes in it for ram air to the air cleaner. Its not a restoration, we are going racing! Want to buy the stock rad?

Man its been cold out... I need a garage heater.
Almost forgot to put the valley trey in the engine. Got to pull the valve train off again to put that back in and the engine is done and has 60psi oil pressure...My W2 is done, just need to finish the trans and paint the engine bay, and the rear axle work can begin

I seem to be going the wrong way on this...I ended up pulling the grill, the bumper, the hood, the master cylinder, and taking it down to bare paint...Aaaargh! Some of the paint underneath was just nasty, so its all or nothing now. And the intake is back out for a little welding and tapping for the extra coolant lines. Figured I would try what most of the other small block guys have done for a while now.

Yes, but you don't see my truck for sale...I might have something else to drop in if all goes well.
If not, my engine builder and I talked it over, and with the progress slow on the '72 Cuda, the W2 will go into my '70 Cuda for the racing season. I already have the front S&W plate that showed up Friday, and the convertor is out to repair a crack in the snout. Once its back, the W2 will go into my '70 and get fired up unless it sells. We figure it will go 11.0's in my green Cuda..
