So, what's the latest, Larry? Did you take the whole holiday period off?

HI Mike; Happy New Year. Well the frame is all painted and I have the pullies figured out; Trying to decide on a rear end/spring combination. I know scratch has a truck 8 3/4 and that would be the easiest but I am open to other combinations. I'd like to get the complete drivetrain complete in the next month or so, so I can move on to the body work. Did you ever find out what rear is under your parts truck? Talk to you soon.

Hey Larry, Happy New Year to you too. The parts truck has an 8.25 pegleg with the 2.9 gears. There's a 77 C body 9.25 out there also, it's a S/G with 2.something gears also, don't remember the ratio though. Did you ever find a core tranny? I think I may have one of those if you haven't.
Mike

Hi Mike, pm me on what you want for the core as I talked to quickd100 about building me one. I have a line on 2 truck 8 3/4 housings, so we'll see how that pans out. I have the same rear in my truck as you do in the parts truck..

Thanks for your help

Hey, it's 43 degrees out and the snow is melting....

Finally got the pulley mess figured out, as I was running a federal pump before and now I am running a saginaw press on 3/4"

Found a brand new March 531 pulley on ebay for about 1/3 the cost; this pulley is originally for a chevy but March lists it for a big block mopar with a press on saginaw pump. Had to use spacers to achieve the correct pulley alignment. Because it is a lot smaller than original I went back to my smaller crank pulley so I would'nt overspeed the pump bearings.

Had to clearance (grind) the oil pump boss on this MP/World Block to achieve some belt adjustablility with this type of pump. The federal pump also needed clearancing but not as much.

Little update on the D150:
1) Received a real nice 8 3/4 housing from moparmarks; it was nice with no pitting and arrived well preserved with oil. Outside and inside in excellent condition.

2) 1E2C provided me with a core 727 and quickd100 is rebuilding it as we speek with a hughes performance race kit.

3) doctordiff fixed me up with a pair of high strength axles with green bearings installed.

4) scratchinfotraction has provided me with an over abundance of tips and knowledge on this build.

I am still hunting for a good 8 3/4 chunk and a torque converter, but I assembled what I had and will probably go with caltracs after my CC stops smokin!!! One thing I can say is: it is a heck of lot cheaper to build up a truck than an A/B/E body. Here are a few pix

Well things are moving right along; quickd100 dropped off my tranny after he overhauled it with the good parts and performed some magic on the valve body. I installed a deep pan and pickup from Mancini and a new dipstick from Bouchillon. My converter should be here the end of next week and then I can marry up the motor and trans.

Mike, unfortunately ND is one of those states that require a front and rear plate; but you can get a personalized plate that is very easy to get as the state population is low....
