Thanks to Randy Johnson(Dartin) his son Sean,and Mr. P-Body..for the use of his engine hoist,I've got my engine and trans out of the GTX...getting it ready for new paint. Since the trans is out..and hasn't been apart since 2001,when it was re-built!..I think it's time to be taken apart,and inspected! New clutch packs would probably be a good idea,as well as replacing all seals and whatever else that NEEDS to be replaced! The sprag is a bolt-in unit,not sure the manufacturer,though!It's held up VERY WELL the past 10 yrs...with NO problems whatsoever!
What suggestions do you guys have...and what would be a "ball park" price to do a usual street/strip 727,behind a 550-575hp 440 in a 3500 lb. GTX,with a 9.5"..4500rpm stall speed converter?
When I had it done in 2001,it was taken out..rebuilt..and re-installed, for $700.00..which I thought was a VERY FAIR price!
