Given my limited engine/carb knowledge I'm coming to you guys for help.
My dart has always had a dominator 1050 CFM on a Weind intake since I have owned it and I'd like to try the NMCA NSS class which prohibits dominator style carbs. The current combination is 493 ci which produces 675HP with Indy 440EZ heads and a roller cam with 275 duration.
What do you guys recommend for intake/carb or carbs setup to keep the HP where it is? And do you think car could run better or same with the change?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Carb Rules as written:
CARBURETOR (NSS CLASSES): All entries in the eliminator must be carbureted as outlined below. Carburetors must be of type and design as originally produced for a specific vehicle. Positioning of carburetors from factory mounting not a tech item carburetors may be positioned facing forwards, backwards, or side mounted). Choke horn, choke plate, choke shaft, choke linkage, and choke mechanism may be removed.

The following carburetor combinations are allowed, regardless of year/make/model of
entry:
•Chrysler Wedge; Inline or cross-ram 2x4 or single 4bbl intake with Carters, AFBs, or Edelbrocks.

You are limited on intakes. Most run the
INDY 440-25 with a pair of 750 ebrocks. Since you are only at 500 inches a factory style crossram like A&A trans sells would do it to.

the factory style crossram will knock about 3 tenth's + off your current ET's. The Indy intake w/ 750's maybe a tenth at the most. All depends on how you want to go about it. I run the factory style crossram with a 499 ci mild combo on the 10.50 index.
Best advice... don't get hung up on ET's, just get the car to run on an index.. 11.00, 10.50, 10.00, etc. The biggest thing is to be able to hit the index consistently and cut a good lite. The winner gets the same check if he's runs 12.50's or 8.75.
yea, I use the mirror alot!!!!!!

Are your heads opened to Max Wedge size intake ports? If not I have a STR intake with a custom fabbed 2 four bbl top for you. It went 10.27@ 131.65 in my 3750 lb Belvedere. It'll also fit under you hood scoop. Lots of pics available- let me know.

The Indy two piece bathtub intake with the inline dual quad top works very well, way more HP and torque than the stock cross ram A freind of mine swith to one on his M.W. 1964 330 Dodge, he had a stock M.W. cross ram with a set of Holley 600 D.P. on it, the new intake needs Carters or Eddy carbs. He ended up with two Eddy 750 smog carbs, the Carter 750 Competion series carbs work better than the Eddy smoggers do

My son Kyle has pretty much the same combo...a 500 inch Bob George Indy motor. For years, he ran a single dominator, and the best it ran was a 10.48.

To go NSS racing, he tossed the dominator and went to the Indy crossram with two Eddies. Out of the box eddies...the car idles like a 300, starts easy, and is extremely driveable. He has tweaked it, and it currently runs 10.30's, a bit quicker than the dominator.

NSS guy, I agree on the index goal, I have been racing on a 10.60 for the past several years and gotten reasonably good at it. If the xram would give me 3 tenths I'd could drop down and run the 10.0 index as my car will run a 10.20 all out now.

Thanks for the help!

Tom
