Anybody put either one of these into a B-Body with a 22" core support? How did it fit? How did it work? Which one would fit best?

Those are good radiators if the rest of your cooling system is working well. The 381428 does not have brackets so you would have to weld those on. Do you have 29" to 30" of space across the core support.

It would be tight. I'd have to move my stock overflow canister . but I suppose that isn't such a big deal. As I continue to want to go fast, the car gets further & further from stock anyway. these look to be the exact same radiator, only the "direct fit" one has the mounting flanges attached.

I have the "direct fit" one in my E-body 22" opening. It fits the opening perfect, but it is tight by the Battery tray. Everything fits though and I have a overflow and washer tank over on the otherside as well.

Thats exactly the area I'm concerned with, the battery tray. Can you tell me exactly how far off the support the radiator stands in that area? Can you take a picture of that intersection & send it to me? I really appreciate it.

Thanks! The E-body battery tray is quite a bit different than my '67 B-body, but it still gives me a good look at the situation. Worst case.... I move the battery to the trunk & use that area for a remote dual oil filter setup
(Mo' money, Mo' money, Mo' money......)

At this rate, I'll never get the 451 built. but this is all stuf that needs to be done to support more motor anyway, right? Thanks again for the pics. They show me exactly what I thought would be the case with the mounting brackets vs. the core support. looks like it would fit better if the core support panels were flat. You seem to have made it work & look decent, though.

Good enough. If I were to do it again, I'd get the one without flanges and use the top and bottom mount kit they sell.
I used some flat stock behind it to mount my trans cooler too.

Thats good info, because the one without those mounting tabs is about $50 cheaper, and the mounting kit is only $16.

Thanks again

I used the Summit direct fit for my 67GTX.Fit very well, just drill one hole for the drivers side lower bolt location.

Did the stock hoses still fit properly?

Great info, and sorry to hijack, but where did you get that shroud?

I got it from Don at FBO.

It is a Northern piece, summit doesn't seem to want to sell these. At least they didn't when I was looking.

Tom

IIRC it was <70 to my door.

I used the stock hoses and trimmed them just a bit to fit.
