Douse it with gasoline. Throw a match on it... then check back with us and we'll line you out. I know, I'm a bunch of help... Your wires probably aren't as bad as they seem. They clean up reall nice with a non-polar solvent like laquer thinner after a quick and light pass with a soapy sponge (don't hose it down). Just go over it, make sure your contacts are as clean as possible (wire brush if possible). After cleaning up wires and bead blasting/ painting the frame, there's not that much to it except patience. Collor Correct sells the proper suede finish paint. If you really do get frustrated, feel free to set it on fire and start over.

Thanks Cooda With that in mine would i be better to get a correct 70 with 8 tach,, although mine is in good shape Thoughts all Thanks Again
Depends on what you are looking for as an end result. If you leave the 72-74 gauges in a 70 or 71 car...be warned that everyone that knows the difference will let you know about it at the car shows.
The 70-71 gauges will always be worth more money...

Ok got dash out of 70 Cuda non rally( 7grand tack) The old( wow what a mess of wires,) Question is Where do you start on resto of it, New Wiring, do it yourself or send it out? wiring looks good but some of the plugs etc have that old green to them, Thanks inadvance Up here in Ontario Canada
Im sure you could re-use the old dash harnes but remember, it the hub for the whole cars electronics so check it carefully for high resistance/rotted tarnished connectors and rotted fuse holders in the fuse block. I would unrap the harness to check the wires that run to the ampmeter to make sure the insulation is not melted anyware under the harness wrapping. These days a new harness cost $$$$ but on my Challenger I replaced ALL the wiring (back befor year one hooked up with M&H)and the electronics work much better then my other car with a re-used harness. I use the 7220 rustoleum black Texture paint for the dash and the NEW woodgrain besels (NOT the decals )from Performance Car Graphics. I also used Redline guage works and had the ampmeter converted to a voltmeter, VDO tach,Quartz clock, solid state volt limiter, and had all the orang needles repainted. My e-body guage faces were perfect so no work was done to them. By the time I was done with a new pad redon (just dashes)I had over $2500 in my Challenger R/t dash. I adds up fast !
