Texas_Charger OP enthusiast Joined: May 2008 Posts: 322 San Diego, CA, United States	Hello all, I dont mean to open a can of worms regarding Stealth heads because I understand some here don't prefer them. However, many have used them with good results. I am building a 470 Stroker, with a standard 400 block (no decking or milling done to the block or heads), Stealth CNC ported aluminum heads, and stealth rockers (1.6:1 ratio) and these valve springs: http://www.hughesengines.com/Index/produ...mp;partid=10270 I am wondering if I can go with stock-length pushrods, or should I order custom length. Does anyone have this combination or one similar? AndyF I Win A Joined: Jan 2003 Posts: 31,049 Oregon	When using aftermarket parts you have to measure the pushrods. Aftermarket heads, cams, lifters and rocker arms can all change the pushrod length.

383man Too Many Posts 3 Joined: Jan 2003 Posts: 27,421 Balt. Md	I picked up an adjustable pushrod from Mancini when I was ordering parts. My 493 with Indy EZ heads had to have longer pushrods as the stock ones were to short. I ordered mine from Manton and had great service. Ron

70Cuda383 Too Many Posts Joined: Oct 2003 Posts: 21,345 Marysville, O-H-I-O	yup. just something as simple as changing to a new cam with higher lift... the base circle could be lower than a stock cam, giving more net lift on a similar sized lobe (gotta keep it small enough to fit through the cam tunnel!!) and that lower base circle means the lifter drops lower and you need either adjustable rockers or a longer pushrod to make up the difference. Jegs/Mancini/etc. have adjustable threaded "checker" pushrods for about $10. pick one up, mock up your valve train, then measure how long of a rod you need and order a set. they aren't that expensive Photobucket sucks

Any idea on a ball park length I should order? The old Mopar performace book says B eng push rod length w stock rocker hyd. lifter 8.593 inches. w/adjustble rocker 8.375inches . I have edelbrock heads on a 383 that has been decked so the piston is 6 thow in the hole and i use a 8.250 inch push rod with adjstble roller rockers with HYD cam . but all rockers are not the same so you need to measure . hope this helps Cj. 1969 Dodge Charger 1969 Dodge Superbee
