Does anyone know what is included in the Spring Special, code A14, for a 1970 Dart? Galen's book says "no information available".

Thanks, Dan

Did you check:
http://www.hamtramck-historical.com/library.shtml
for 1970?

And this:
http://www.oldcarbrochures.com/static/NA/Dodge/1970_Dodge/dirindex.html
for 1970?

You definitely won't find info like this in a normal brochure. You'd have to find that info in a special flyer specific to that model that was meant for the dealership only. Typically these spring special packages were just a way to order a group of options under one code at a cheaper price. They usually are no big deal.

To see an example you can look at the What's New from Dodge links on the Hamtramck-Historical page linked to above.

From an April built 1970 Dart Swinger 6-cyl Monroney Label:

A14 - Dart Swinger Sales Package - $293.25
Includes:
6.94x14 WSW Polyester Tires
Deluxe Wheel Covers
Deluxe Vinyl Bench Seat
Steering Wheel - Rim Blow (2 spoke)
LH Remote Mirror
Carpets
Vinyl Body Side Mouldings
Bumper Guards F&R
Belt Mouldings
Wheel Lip Mouldings

and... which I believe was the value of this package the next item on the sticker...

D34 Torqueflite Transmission was No Charge. I am not near a scanner - but hopefully this helps you.

I had a girlfriend years ago that had a 71' Dart with those same options. Don't know if it was that code on the fender tag. At that time no one was looking at codes. This was in 86'. Her car was dark brown.

Dave,

Thanks so much for the information. The only difference I see on my car is the tires. Mine came with D78-14 dual white stripe tires. Coded on the broadcast sheet as T16. My car was assembled at the Windsor plant as well (same as yours). What's interesting, is that the A14 code is not on the fender tag, but is only on the broadcast sheet.

Dan

Yes, but I have a friend who has a 70 Dart with A14 on his broadcast sheet, with a 318. His was also assembled at Windsor as well. Don't know why the window sticker shown says "final assembly Detroit, Michigan", when the plant code is "R" (Windsor).

I am pretty sure you could upgrade the tires to the larger size and if your car has A/C (with automatic trans) the larger tires might have been required. From our research on the Valiant project we found in 1970 that the 6.95x14 tires were single stripe wsw and the larger D78x14 were dual stripe wsw. Since this is a marketing package it is not surprising the A14 code is not on the fender tag. Dave

Hi Dave,

Yes my car does have A/C, so that might be why the larger tires. I know it does have the 318 torsion bars because of the a/c.
