I am the new owner of the Bo29 HEMMI cuda that was on ebay 2 months ago , the Defrank-Cohen , originally Gentle Ben car .The car is blowing blue smoke out of the left bank only .I made sure the plugs were clean from any oil from the spark plug tubes but it keeps getting oil on the left bank plugs & blows blue smoke after 1 min from starting , what are your thoughts on this , there is only 10 hrs on the engine according to the guy I bought the car from .

10 hours a quarter mile at a time can be A LOT of miles! You can't trust most sellers these days and even the honest ones sell cars with unknown mechanical woes. Race hemis are not Toyota 4 bangers, they USUALLY require frequent maintainance and a knowledgable mechanic to deal with it. You likely have a wounded warrior on your hands and that will likely go really south REALLY fast without finding the issue, not something a first time Mopar owner will have a good time with. I'd reccomend getting someone in the know to help you out. If you post the cars location we can likely send you in the right direction. If it's in Seattle you might contact www.rocketresto.com and ask for Mike, he knows his stuff

Also try Peter Willie, he owns and races a 68 S/S Hemi Barracuda (clone) and does all of his own engine building, he's VERY good with race hemis and not far from you.

Have you done a leak down on the cylinders? Could have some bad or broken rings. What about valve guides and seals? You could also call Charlie Wescott and get his opinion.
BTW, I've never heard of a racer talk about an engine in hours, always in number of passes.

I am not an expert but my hemi was doing something like yours and i was thinking valve guides or rings. As it turns out we had a leaking intake manifold. We fixed it and the oil out the exhaust stopped immediately. Of course we did a leak down test before hand and then just started with the easiest thing to check next. Just food for thought. Best of luck.

I would make sure the intake manifold is sealed. If the block has been decked and the intake was not cut to fit it will pull oil into the cylinders. I have has a few real Hemi Darts and Cuda's over the years and one had the same problem. I had the intake cut and the problem went away. Good luck.

It is not uncommon for 426 hemiroids to suck oil into the cylinders from intake gasket leaks Do you own a leakdown meter and know how to do a leak down test? If so post the results. BTW,Andy DeFrank and Jim Cohen had a few different SS/AA 1968 Baracudas and Darts over the years Andy Defrank had more once they split up, I remember several different DeFrank SS/AA cars with that paint scheme at Pomona over the years, Rick Hauser drove a lot of them for Mr Defrank

Thanks for the help , guys I am leaning towards the intake manifold , especialy after talking to some hemmi guys at the sat car show at Indian Bend road in Scottsdale Az[they have a show every sat , up to 500 cars especialy during the auctions ]I am currently at my winter home in Cave Creek Az , I will check this out next week. What do you guys think of the bo29 car currently on ebay , there is no buck tag or core support number , I bid on it in sept at Barrett
Jackson Las vegas but quit at $60,000 because of questionable documentation , wrong seats , dash etc .

Cave Creek, great little town, spent a few hours there as my brother lives about 20 mins away. my thought would be to check the intake gaskets first. if there's oil down the intake runner you've most likely found your problem. have you checked the plugs on that side to see if you can narrow it down to 1 particular cylinder? dave #1355 ss/ea

Well, the chances of having all the rings or valve guide seals on one bank go bad while the others don't, are much smaller than having an intake manifold leak. So this isn't an original thought but that's what it is. New gaskets should fix you right up. Congratulations on your purchase!
